Buses enabled us to undertake many "linear" walks but as we moved into more remote areas, bus services were infrequent and circular walks became necessary.

Stage One: 7 - 13 June staying at Flixton near Filey
We enjoyed good weather with a little, mainly overnight, rain.


9 June - Wolds Walk: Flixton to Filey (about 8 miles)

Stage Two: 13 - 18 June staying at Fridaythorpe
Generally sunny with cloudy periods and a little, mainly overnight, rain.



14 June - A circular walk including part of the Wolds Walk:
Centred on Thixendale (about 8½ miles)

16 June - A damp day so took the bus to Molton
An "Old Fashioned" town with lots of small interesting shops and visitor attractions


17 June - Wharren Percy, a vanished medieval village
(only 4 miles on a hot afternoon).

Stage Three: 18 - 23 June staying at Polkington
Generally sunny with cloudy periods but heavy rain on the last two days.


19 June - visit to Burnby Hall Gardens on a beautiful hot, sunny day,
enjoying the national collection of water lilies

20 June - A circular walk around Millington that included part of the Wolds Way.
It was a very hot (almost too hot) sunny day (about 9-1/2 miles).

21 June - Our first really wet day and a visit to York.


22 June - The second really wet day and a visit to Beverley.


23 June - Time to go home, but first, a morning at a scarecrow festival (representing the first person to)
and flower festival (themed to represent children's books)
